• Out and about part 2

    March 13, 2025 in Spain ⋅ 🌧 15 °C

Oh the rain. Goodness it’s been miserable. Thank goodness for umbrellas as annoying as they are when you try to take photos.

First stop today was the Triana Mercado - an indoor market which was very interesting. Lots of good looking foods to purchase.

Next we walked along the riverside to reach the Plaza de Espana, what an amazing place. It would have been more perfect minus the rain though I’m sure there would have been more people about. We spent quite some time admiring all the tiles and ceramic works. Well worth a visit and it’s free. Unfortunately the botanical gardens were closed due to the weather.

Next door was the Teatro Lope De Vega (theatre). Again another example of ceramic works.

Following along we passed the Universidad De Seville, Alcazar and the Catherdral. Both the latter two had huge queues and we decided to give them a miss today in favour of a stop for lunch. Though we did manage to get our Pilgrim Credentials stamped at the Catherdral which is the start of the VDLP.

Walking back to Triana we stopped at Tipico Barra de Tapas which came highly recommended - they are not wrong. We shared gnocchi in a Gorgonzola sauce, Galician octopus, salted cod fritters cooked in charcoal and pork cheek. Very good. €28 with a tinto de verano each

We are now back at the hotel for a break hoping the weather will pick up
