ViaggiatoreSo weird! Hay piles were an old way to store hay in fields and barns. Hay balers have replaced that method for easier/compacter storage.
ViaggiatoreAnd early on in our trip in the southern region I remember seeing the large hay stacks in fields and thinking of Monet! I’d never seen that style in real life. Used to the style in the US!
