    After we had been to the Corycian Caves, we drove past Kizkalesi on the way back, actually we wanted to visit the castle in the middle of the sea, but unfortunately the ferries left very irregularly and we didn't have much time, so we visited the castle directly on the beach. Unfortunately, it was no longer completely open to visitors.

    Kızkalesi is located on the site of the ancient Korykos. In the village, the castle, also called Korykos, and the girl's castle (Turkish: Kız Kalesi) on an offshore island, the landmark of the village, have been preserved. The castle takes its name from the legend that a local ruler brought his daughter there after prophesying that she would die of a snake bite. The snake got her anyway via a food basket.
