After Borobudur Temple, we decided to go visit Mt Merapi, a famous volcanoe here. An active volcano erupting every few years. Its latest massive eruption was on the 5th of November 2010, killing over 300 people and evacuated around 360000. Though we weren't fortunate to see Mt. Merapi today but we did see the effects of the eruption as there is a museum here. The roads are only accessible by jeep and so it was a bumpy ride. We also saw the famous "Batu Alien" or Alien Rock which was part of the debris of one of its eruptions. It is recommended to visit Mt. Merapi in the early morning before the mist obliterates the view.Leggi altro
