El Valle de Antón

For our first few days we went up to el valle de Antón. Quiet little town where we did a hike up to La India Dormida, visited swimming holes at el chorro macho, and el pozo azul. We ate some delicious Colombian and Panamian food, and met a lovely Swiss couple.Read more

Santa Catalina

The penguin diaries part 2. Loved Santa Catalina. 2 days of Scuba diving in Coiba National Park, and one lazy day at the end. Turns out Scuba wipes you out. Who knew? Good Panamanian and Italian food and met some lovely. Have yet to meet a Canadian though! Seems like the vast majority of folks are from Germany so far. Ln to Boquete next!

Not much in Boquete. We had a super strange experience at the first hostel we booked so we bailed without ever setting foot inside. Found a lovely hotel run by a Mexican woman who took and was very kind. We decided not to do the Volcan Barú so we just did the lost waterfalls hike and are moving on to Bocas del Toro tomorrow. Everybody says that's the place to be and we have 5 days there! And of course we had a little St Patricks Day action, no matter where you are in the world you can find it!Read more

Bocas del Toro

Bocas was an interesting town. Every single traveller we had met up to this point in Panama ended up staying at the same hostel. Our friend Hans, who we met in Santa Catalina spent a lot of time with us. We met the loveliest girl from Spain, Berta. We cried when she left. The town itself was cool, built on mangroves so all the buildings stuck out over the water. We did lots of partying, some scuba, our first night dive, and a couple day trips to the other islands via eater taxi. We were happy with the week we spent and emotional to see our friends off. Las Lajas for a private beach house next. :)Read more

What a beautiful, secluded, quiet little piece of paradise. It's the place we've been looking for. The beach was 10 miles/16 km long, with maybe like 12 people on it at busy times. The sky was phenomenal. You could point and shoot with your phone and capture Orion. It was our first time seeing a southern constellation, the southern cross! We offered to buy the house if she ever sells it. The perfect quiet paradise. Great place to spend a few days with friends after what has now been a couple weeks traveling. We love Las Lajas, and we will be back.Read more

Well of course we would love Panama City. Wished we had more time to spend here. We found a great hostel in old town, visited the canal, and spent a day walking around old town. Really liked the vibe here. Sad to end our trip!

Unfortunately our friend tested positive for COVID and he had to quarantine in Panama City. We tested negative and were able to fly home but tested positive when we got home. At least we made it this far!!!!Read more
