Across to the other side of the canyon

Interestingly, this side of the canyon just across the bridge was totally sparce with only cactii growing there. We counted at least 6 varieties of cactii mainly Prickly Pear and huge Aloe Vera, whileもっと詳しく
Away from the oasis

Shortcut to San Juan de Chuccho

Halfway up the canyon on the other side, there is a short cut across the face of the mountains towards San Juan de Chuccho. This track is not marked on maps we had but is there on Maps.me. We checkedもっと詳しく
Across the hill face

Abandoned habitations

It was lush green, there were water channels but we didn't see anyone. There were houses with no roofs and broken down walls. There was even hay drying on the prickly pear cactii, but not a soul inもっと詳しく

Bridge across the canyon

After walking for about 15 min, I reached the bridge that would take me back across the Rio Colca to the side of the mountain where I would start my ascent towards Cabanaconde.

Two thirds way up

Mirador San Miguel

Back again in Cabanaconde

We woke up early at about 6 am to freshen up and catch the 7 am bus towards Arequipa. On the way, just about 12 kms from Cabanaconde, we planned get off at Cruz del Condor.
