  • Our first day at Queensland

    July 11, 2016 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 24 °C

We had to wake up so early, before the sun. It took a long time to get to Queensland but not as long as going to France. I liked being in the clouds. We can see the pool and the beach from our balcony. Now it is night, we are having dinner next to the pool and there are tiki torches at the pool. I took a picture of the torches. We went in the pool and I was shivering in the cold water. It was so much fun!
I saw a cute tree frog at the hotel and it was called Bernard.

It's been a good first day in Palm Cove!

  • Swimming, and crocodiles

    July 12, 2016 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 22 °C

We had a great day swimming in the pool this morning, then we went to a crocodile park! It was awesome but we had to walk a lot. I learned how to survive snake bites and how to avoid crocodile attacks. Don't go in the sea at night. The crocodile presentation was awesome and scary. The guy had to move quickly out of the way of the crocodile, and he fed it chickens. When it had the long rope in its mouth, it looked like he was taking the crocodile for a walk. Cairns is funny! Then the crocodile did a death roll, it was so strong.
On the way back we saw cool stone piles at the beach- it seems like people stop and make piles just for fun. Back at our apartment we got to swim in the pool after dark.

  • Green Island and other fun

    July 13, 2016 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 21 °C

We went to Green Island today! It's in the Great Barrier Reef. We went on an awesome glass -bottom boat trip and saw heaps of fish, giant clams, so many types of coral, turtles and other things. I was surprised it wasn't more colourful but we only saw shallow reef life so maybe it would be different further out. We need to not make too much pollution so the reef can keep living. My sister Ruby found fish like Dory from the movie. Mum saw sea slugs which are gross. It was soooo windy. The bumpy catamaran ride was fun and there was even a sign to tell us how to use the toilet! I think we already know!! Dad went snorkeling.

I saw jackfruit today. Hi Jack!

We are having a bit of trouble with the WiFi here to snorkeling and glass bottom boat pictures are coming soon I promise!

  • Some underwater pictures

    July 14, 2016 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 22 °C

Hi again! It's a rainy day but still warm and that's ok, we need a quiet day after all our adventures! Here are some pictures Ruby and I took on our glass bottom boat ride at Green Island yesterday- I like how you can see the fish and coral, but also our reflections! Very artistic. The coral is all different types- Brain, Tabletop, Plate, and some look like spaghetti, broccoli or a net. Coral is not a plant, it's an animal with a hard rocky skeleton.

Dad also took some great snorkeling pictures, here are 2 of them. There's a parrotfish!

  • Pancakes & wallabies

    July 14, 2016 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 20 °C

It turned into a pretty good day even though it rained a bit! We could still wear shorts and t-shirts and go swimming but the local people wore jumpers and jackets!

For lunch we had build -your-own pancakes and I think I made mine a bit too sweet. We then went back to the crocodile park and saw quolls for the first time ever. I couldn't take a picture through their cage but they were so cute. We got to pat wallabies and kangaroos and feed them carrots! So cute. There was a joey who jumped into it's mum's pouch! And a very tough little wallaby that head-butted a big daddy kangaroo to scare him off.

Tonight we are going swimming after dinner again!

  • Kuranda and rainforest

    July 15, 2016 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 16 °C

There is so much to tell today! We went to Kuranda, a town up high. We went on the train, the railway was so hard for the men to build. They had to dig the tunnels with just shovels and pickaxes! Anyway, the rainforest and waterfalls were beautiful so we were lucky.

We looked at art shops (mum was happy) and then had lunch. We saw a Tasmanian Devil which looked like a cross between a wombat and a dog. So cool. We rode in an Army Duck which is amphibious... yes it goes on land and water. The rainforest was interesting and I learned some survival tips. There is a bamboo like plant that has water inside if you need a drink. Another tree has bark which takes away a toothache when you chew it. But you have to be careful, a berry bush gives you 4 years of pain if you touch it! I also saw aboriginal dancing, spear throwing, and got to throw a boomerang.

It was raining when we caught the skyrail, it's a cable car back down the mountain. We went through clouds, it felt wet when we put our hands out the window. We had a glass bottom cable car and it was great!

    Then, more night swimming!

Mum says WiFi is not good tonight so photos are coming soon

  • Last day in Palm Cove

    July 16, 2016 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 21 °C

We had a good day playing at our apartment and pool. Ruby cried a lot when we had to get out of the pool for the last time. But we are also happy to be going home tomorrow. Here are some pictures.
