• Rovinj, Istrian Peninsula

    September 13 in Croatia ⋅ ☀️ 25 °C

The Istrian Peninsula is the largest peninsula in the Adriatic Sea, located at the northern tip of the Adriatic and shared by Croatia, Slovenia, and Italy, with about 90% belonging to Croatia, with northern slices in Slovenia and a small tip in Italy.

The Peninsula features a stunning rocky and pebble-beached coastline alongside a green, hilly interior of vineyards, olive groves, and medieval hilltop towns - including Motovun where we stayed overnight before the short drive to the coastal town of Rovinj on Friday morning.

I’ve fallen behind with my writing and sorting through my photos so this hurried post doesn’t do justice to this fabulous town and surroundings. But, in summary, we’ve had a wonderful time in Rovinj, exploring the picturesque Old Town, walking and swimming along the coastline and the Golden Cape Park, and the same on Saint Andrews Island (a 15 minute ferry ride from Rovinj port) and, as a bonus, enjoying the fun atmosphère and music of the Istrian Wine Festival which happened to be on during our last two nights here.

Next stop we will travel north by bus to Piran, our first stop in Slovenia.❤️
