• Hvar to Split to Plitvice Lakes.

    September 8 in Croatia ⋅ ☀️ 28 °C

Today was a travel day. We left Hvar Town on the 9.30 ferry for a one hour crossing to Split. With the temperature at 35 degrees, we left our backpacks in luggage storage for a few hours to tootle around the town before picking up a rental car to drive just under 300 kms to Tesla’s Gastro Guesthouse, near Plitvice Lakes National Park, where we plan to spend a full day tomorrow.

Once we decided it would be a brief visit in transit, I didn’t do much in the way of research on Split, so I can’t describe what we were looking at in the centre other than to say it is an interesting and lively quarter with some excellent Roman ‘ruins’ that looked in pretty good nick after all these years. And it’s spurred me on to read up on it. 😊

We then took a local bus a little way out of town to Sixt to pick up our rental car (they didn’t have the class of car we booked, so gave us a sporty BMW for the same cost 😊) and were on our way just before 2. We arrived at our guesthouse just before 5, warmly welcomed by Davorin, our host along with his wife Visjna, who we will meet later. On checking in we met four of the other guests.

Signing off now to go down to the bar for an apero and then dinner. The family run guesthouse is well regarded for its food and hospitality, so we are looking forward to that. ❤️
