• Waiheke Island, Auckland

Today we ferried over to Waiheke Island, which is a super cute island directly off the coast of Auckland(45 minute ferry). This island is renowned for its wine growing and tasting, so we opted to bike the island and tour a number of vineyards along the way!

We stopped at Casita Miro first, and were thrilled with their beautiful location and excellent wines.

Next was Te Motu, which had a fancier/more expensive vibe, but surprisingly worse wine! Guess we have cheap tastes.

We followed Te Motu with Batch, which was both of our favorites. Batch is situated on the highest peak of Waiheke island so it was quite a ride to get to (thankful we had e-bikes!) but allowed for amazing views once we arrived due to the location. We also loved their wine, AND, it was the cheapest tasting! We figured the huge hill made it so less people visited.

We closed out our time on the island at MudBrick, which was another winery situated on a peak with a lovely view.

Following our last tasting, we ferried back to Auckland where we opted to enjoy the views from a rooftop bar called Queens Rooftop and Wine Stop. We tried alcoholic ginger beer here which was really fun, and Chelsea sampled their pisco sour cocktail.

To close out the night we walked into the downtown core and got Korean food at Obar & Obar snack. This meal was a bit disappointing for chelsea as her food ended up being VERY spicy. Chris loved his sweet chicken though- and we both enjoyed prepping for our travels in Korea!
