• Meteora to Athens

    May 25 in Greece ⋅ 🌬 72 °F

Today we journeyed from Meteora to Athens, and stopped at the Temple of Poseidon on the way.

Today was a long driving day, as the temple of Poseidon was south of Athens, and we got started with the drive at daybreak- we stopped for food midway through the drive in a small town called Lamia, where we got to sample many local dishes cooked with more of a neighborhood feel. The Tzatziki was garlicky!! We really enjoyed their dessert, feta me meli, which was feta baked in fila dough, and covered in honey and sesame seeds.

The temple of Poseidon itself was very cool. It was neat to see so much of it still standing, and it occupies a very prominent place overlooking the bay.

Once we’d enjoyed the temple, we headed into Athens where we had a fantastic authentic Greek dinner, and then called it a night. Tomorrow we will start exploring Athens!
