• Further exploring Meteora

Today we explored the four remaining monasteries in Meteora.

We started our day with handy nespresso machine coffee in our AirBnb, and then got started early with seeing the monasteries.

We saw Varlaam Monastery first, followed by the Great Meteoron Monastery. Next we visited Roussanou Monastery, followed by St. Nicholas Monastery.

Varlaam Monastery was the second largest, and had one of the most impressive approaches as other monasteries rose up on either side of it.

St. Nicholas Monastery was also small, but you could climb onto the roof for beautiful views of the surrounding area.

Once we’d explored the monasteries in full we headed into town for an authentic Greek lunch/dinner. Given this was our first meal of the day Chris got excited and over ordered a bit. We ended up getting to try pastitsio, which was even more like a lasagna than last night’s meal(it’s macaroni with ground beef and sauce on top).

After dinner we worked on trip planning for Italy and relaxed.
