• Exploring Val di Funes

    20 de junio, Italia ⋅ ☀️ 75 °F

Today, we continued our exploration of the Dolomites, hiking the six mile Adolf Munkel Weg in Val di Funes.

We started our day with breakfast and coffee at our bed and breakfast, before immediately hitting the road to our hike which was an hour and a half away. The drive was a bit crazy, with lots of single lane roads with oncoming traffic on steep mountainsides, but we made the trip uneventfully and were thrilled when we saw the mountains we would be hiking around.

The hike started out in a forested region, but slowly made way to an area where we could see one side of the mountain range(that was quite rocky), ultimately we hiked around this range, to a side that was heavily blanketed in wildflowers. Here we found multiple rifugios that were beyond cute, and had heavenly views. We attempted to eat at one of them, but every single table was taken and we opted to finish the hike vs waiting.

Once we completed the hike and made the drive home we had dinner at the same place as last night as we’d enjoyed their food immensely. We enjoyed a carafe of wine and epic views, and then headed home to pack and call it a night, as tomorrow we are moving to a new part of the Dolomites.
