Glymur Waterfall & Exploring Reykjavík

Today we hiked to the Glymur Waterfall, and explored the city of Reykjavik.

We started our day with breakfast and coffee at the Airbnb, and then said hello to the owner’s horses on the property. There were around 15, and they were super cute.. Chelsea was in heaven!

After we’d said hello to the horses, we hit the road to Glymur Waterfall which was our big hike for the day. The hiking trail took us over a river that was typically forded via a tree trunk, however due to all the rain the river had expanded. This meant our shoes came off, and pants were rolled up so we could cross. After the river crossing we hiked up a sizable path before being greeted by views of three beautiful waterfalls. At the peak of the climb there was another river we intended to cross, but we instead opted to do an out and back as the water levels were higher here too.

After the climb we headed to Reykjavík, where we checked into our hotel before going on a long walk through town. A few key sights we saw were the giant church in downtown, the concert hall, as well as the massive boats in the harbor. There was a super yacht docked which was pretty cool to check out. We explored the entire downtown area before settling on a foodhall at the end of the harbor for dinner.

To end our night we headed back to our hotel and made use of their spa facilities, which included hot tubs and a sauna.Read more
