    Scenic Drive to Alesund

    Today we traveled from Odda to Alesund via scenic drive, which was a long drive and ferry day at around 10 hours!

    We started our day with breakfast at our Airbnb, and then started the drive. Our first stop was Flåm, which was a super cute town at the base of massive mountains. We did some quick grocery shopping here, and tried the pastries at a local bakery(one of the pastries had Norwegian brown cheese baked into it!). After enjoying Flåm, we drove up to the Stegastein viewpoint well above the town in the mountains for panoramic views of the entire area.

    Next we visited Flotane which had a very cool waterfall set into a rocky landscape that looked alien compared to most of the places we’d seen in Norway thus far. Our next stop was Vedahaugane, which was a nearby art exhibit that was a cave built into a hill that housed a bear sleeping on top of a pile of junk. It was pretty cool to see stops like this, where Norway essentially built artwork into long tourist drives.

    Our final stop on the scenic drive was Sluppen, which was another waterfall with a walking trail to it. The water was so blue!

    We kept driving quite a ways after the scenic route until we reached our home for the night Ålesund. Here we unloaded and checked into our hotel, and then walked to a local Indian restaurant for dinner.    Read more
