Miura

Eva seemed to have the whole trip planned out. I met her with Teep and Chinatsu in Shinagawa before we made our way down to the Miura Peninsula.

A short bus ride took us to Koajiro no Mori, a pleasant walking trail albeit a short one. The boardwalk took us through a marsh, to Enoki Terrace overlooking the flower fields. We took a rest here under the shade of a tree, the nasty combo of hot and humid made things very difficult.

There was a fork in the road, we took the right path towards the so-called Crab Plaza. We saw some signs showing a guide on how the different types of crabs would "dance" and to our surprise, the path led to the bay where from afar, we could see hundreds of tiny critters which upon closer inspection, turned out to be the crabs. I thought they would be bigger, but they were indeed dancing while Eva and Chinatsu sang "Dancing Queen."

Further out on the beach, we saw a strange jellyfish that was already doomed to perish.

Going back to the terrace on going to the left side of the fork, we got to Shirahige Shrine, a Shinto shrine with a giant oyster shell at the entrance. I saw an inner shrine dedicated to Inari as well.

To end the day, we went to the onsen at Hotel Keikyu. Everything was already part of the tickets Eva bought. The views of Miura at the outdoor baths were phenomenal, the sauna was another highlight.

For lunch, we had amazing seafood. Some of the freshest fatty tuna I've had the chance to partake in awhile.

A great weekend day trip, that's for sure.Weiterlesen
