I was battling a nasty cold, a sore throat got me feeling so weak but everything had already been booked so I simply had to go.
I dragged myself to Tokyo Station to get on the bullet train to Toyama. It wasn't easy, and I found myself constantly doubting if I was even up for this.
This was special though, a pilgrimage to one of Japan's Three Holy Mountains, Mt. Tateyama was one for the books.
I made it and was able to make it to my hostel in Takaoka, Traveler's Roots. The night was difficult, to say the least, the only good thing was that there were no snorers. I still found myself fending off a fever, sweating throughout the night was good, I suppose.
I had to get medicine tomorrow, it was my only rest day before doing the hike.Read more
