Olympia (from Katakolo)

Beautiful day visiting the site of the original Olympic games. Walked the first race area. Saw gymnasium/ training areas. Then visited the museum.

We visited a family olive farm/vineyard, Magna Grecian. Started with some ouzo- just a taste for me. We had a "flight" of olive oil- a first for me. Then a hearty tasting sampler of local foods, and watched some dancing. We saw a THOUSAND YEAR OLD olive tree- that still produces olives. And of course, some shopping.

Between the Olympia shops and the shops at our lunch stop, I picked up a pair of earrings, some donkey milk hand cream, a couple of small gifts for the kids-- and I just might have picked up some olive oil. I just might have picked up a LOT of olive oil.Läs mer
