    Singapore

    March 9, 2025 in Singapore ⋅ 🌧 27 °C

Two nights in Singapore before boarding our ship was plenty. Boys are still adjusting to the time zone and catching some good zzzz’s. We took the hop on hop off bus tour (2 lines) and got to see all the sights. Our 19th floor hotel room overlooks the iconic Marina Bay Sands & the Singapore Flyer. We can see the harbour light show at night as well as the beautiful Gardens of the Bay.Read more

  • Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

    March 12, 2025, South China Sea ⋅ 🌬 26 °C

Docked at HCMC around noon on the 12th. Azamara is a small ship, allowing us to cruise up the 40km channel and dock just minutes from the city centre.

Day 1: In Ho Chi Minh City (now known as HCMC but as Saigon prior to the end of the Vietnam War), we ventured into the city centre, walked around to see some sights, got caught in a rainstorm and sought refuge in a foot massage salon! Jen & I enjoyed the AzaMazing cultural event held off site that night while the boys caught up on more sleep!

Day 2 was a wonderful 7hr trip exploring the Mekong Delta.

We Left HCMC at dusk and are now heading to DeNang, Vietnam.

  • DaNang, Vietnam

    March 14, 2025 in Vietnam ⋅ ☁️ 28 °C

Loved DaNang! We booked a private tour visiting Marble Mountain, Monkey Mountain & Lady Buddha which included a jeep tour and lunch. So nice having a tour guide to ourselves. A beautiful city & beautiful people.

Marble Mountain: huge natural caves used by Viet Cong soldiers as hiding places & hospital during war. Also home to historical pagodas, Buddhist temples & 500yr old marble carved village. So glad I walked the 156 steps up to the top.

Monkey Mountain: a US military communications facility during the Vietnam War. Home to many endangered species notably the red-shanked douc langur (red monkey) which we saw in the trees but didn’t get a great photo.

Lady Buddha - Guanyin: Goddess of Mercy - 67m high!!

    DaNang Beach: beautiful 60km coastline!

  • Hong Kong

    Mar 16–17, 2025 in Hong Kong ⋅ ☀️ 19 °C

Spent 2 great days in Hong Kong using the Hop On Hop Off bus to sightsee all around 2 of the islands. 7.5M people in about 1/2 the size of the greater Vancouver area!

Beautiful beaches & an amazing view of the city’s skyline from the famous Victoria Peak. A city definitely worth visiting on a long stopover.Read more

  • Taiwan

    March 19, 2025 in Taiwan ⋅ ☀️ 17 °C

Taiwan for the day didn’t disappoint. We took a little day tour to 2 small coal mining towns. During the first stop we released sky lanterns with our hopes, wishes, & dreams written in black evoking a number of hard to describe feelings ♥️. We climbed 200 steps to our next stop enjoying great views & quaint tea shops.Read more

  • Japan

    Mar 20–23, 2025 in Japan ⋅ ☁️ 11 °C

We had 3 stops in Japan. Miyako Island, Naha, Okinawa & Kobe/Osaka. No scheduled touring was done but we did get off ship and walk the streets of all cities. Cities were very clean & people friendly. Not much English used by locals. It was the Asian country we visited with the least amount of English directions available to us non multilingual travellers!! Not a lot of good pics taken. I think Japan would be better with a guided tour.

Craig suffered some food poisoning on the last night of the ship. Dampened our day in Kobe & Osaka but I was able to put on 16K steps taking in the shops, food stalls & city streets/alleys in the Namba & Dotonbori districts. We were able to check in early ($200 extra charge) so Craig could rest all day and stay close to the facilities 🤮

Looking forward to flying home tomorrow!

A great trip. I would definitely recommend Azamara Cruiselines. I’m sure we’ll sail again with them in the near future.
