    • Day 804

      Sidmouth

      August 5, 2020 in England ⋅ ☁️ 18 °C

We left Lychett Minster quite promptly and drove along the south coast to Salcombe Regis-where we had booked a campsite for three nights. After setting up we walked down the hill to Sidmouth to see Meg, our first reunion since New Year. Alan's brother Stewart was over from Italy - it was good to catch up with all the goings on. The discussion of conspiracy theories (covid related) with big bruvver was quickly taken off the agenda for reasons of family harmony.
A most enjoyable stay- some fizzy wine was consumed both at Powys House and in Brownlands where we enjoyed an evening bbq with Alison and Russ. Their garden was looking very colourful, well worth all the lockdown effort.
Big Stew cooked a delicious seafood pasta which went down very well too
Oscar and Toby were enjoying Sidmouth with their grandparents and we enjoyed watching Alison and Russ in the sea watching over the boys on their body boards.
The walk back up the hill each evening was quite strenuous but physically rewarding.

    • Day 545

      Sidmouth

      November 20, 2019 in England ⋅ ⛅ 7 °C

We travelled along the coast to Sidmouth to celebrate the actual date of GG Macs 90th birthday with her and Alan's sister Alison and B in Law Russ. We enjoyed another great fish meal at Neil's restaurant and a couple of bottle of champers.
On Thursday we walked along the south coast path to Budleigh Salterton prior to getting the bus back. The wind was up and the sea quite animated, but the wind was predominantly behind us so the walk was most enjoyable with only the odd shower. We enjoyed a Pebble cake with a cuppa in a coffee house which was a new cake to us.
On Saturday we joined Als, Russ, Tom, Lindsey and family with the two G Grannies at Alison and Russ's house for a pre Xmas celebration. A lovely meal, with good company once again, after which we wished Als and Russ bon-voyage for their imminent journey to see their new grandchild Angus in Sydney.

    • Day 1,138

      Sidmouth

      July 5, 2021 in England ⋅ ☁️ 17 °C

We left Pont Kemys to pick up Great Granny Mac/Meg from her hotel in Abergavenny, popped into Raglan to pick up some of Kirsty's stuff she had left at the house then drove onward to Sidmouth where we planned to chill out for the next three days.
On the way we stopped off briefly at Chepstow to let GGM see Kirsty and Matt's new house.
We spent three nights in Sidmouth doing not very much at all after all the activity of the previous week.
We enjoyed a few games of scrabble with Meg in the evenings and we went out for a couple of short walks through the day. We were hoping for some beach weather but it did not materialise.

    • Day 1,455

      Sidmouth

      May 18, 2022 in England ⋅ ☁️ 16 °C

We were able to leave the van on Paul and Georgie's drive for a few days, so we took the car down to Sidmouth on the Wednesday. Kirsty was able to visit for a couple of days, as she had arranged a few days off between shifts at the hospital.
On Thursday afternoon we were advised that our offer had been accepted and that the house would be taken off the market. A second bottle of fizz was opened immediately.
We enjoyed a trip out to Exmouth one day and a couple of trips out to the local garden centres and farm shops where granny treated us to some very tasty cakes.

    • Day 848

      Sidmouth

      September 18, 2020 in England ⋅ ⛅ 21 °C

A quick trip to Sidmouth to catch up with Alison, Russ and Meg.
We enjoyed a couple of beers on Sidmouth promenade from the bar at The Bedford Hotel whilst catching up with A and R's news. We are really enjoying this September sunshine and are making the most of it by being outdoors as much as possible. We had a relaxing day with Meg and wandered around Sidmouth - it was busy with many others also making the most of the autumn sunshine. We enjoyed a glass of fizz or two whilst watching Strictly on TV - enjoyable even though repeats from previous years. We are all looking forward to this year's competition - although it clearly will be quite different this year.Read more

    • Day 585

      Sidmouth

      December 30, 2019 in England ⋅ ☀️ 10 °C

After sorting some medical stuff in Sutton Scotney in the morning we travelled to Exeter to the Travel Clinic where we were both vaccinated against whooping cough in preparation for our visit to Australia. This is recommended
when visiting babies in Oz - and with our new grandchild due there during our visit we felt it was a good idea.
Following the jabs we went to Sidmouth where we spent three very enjoyable days with Alan's mum. We did a bit of walking in the town and up The Byes to keep our legs stretched. We enjoyed New Years Eve fizz with Alan's mum but did not stay up to see in the New Year. Is this a sign of old age setting in?

    • Day 497

      Sidmouth

      October 3, 2019 in England ⋅ ⛅ 15 °C

We had a fairly uneventful flight back from Santorini. However the air port is undergoing some alteration and we arrived to chaotic scenes in the check in area. It was baking hot but the chaos was very well organised and the staff were very helpful in ensuring passengers got to their flight in good time.
Arriving back in late afternoon we progressed to Sidmouth in Chloe and were able to find a spot at Powys House to park up for the evening.
We enjoyed a glass of fizz upon our return.
Alison and Russ had returned from their trip to France and we met up for a nice meal in Dukes on the sea front.
On Saturday we completed a five mile walk up to Salcombe Hill returning via Fortesque and The Byes which were as picturesque as usual.
