Nach unserer Überfahrt nach Dover war erst einmal ausschlafen für alle angesagt. Wobei diese Definition von allen anders interpretiert wird. Wir waren jedenfalls ausgeschlafen und uns begrüßte der Tag mit strahlendem Sonnenschein und glattem Wasser. Nach dem Frühstück hatten wir dann noch eine Stunde zeit die Umgebung des Hafens zu erkunden. Diese nutzten wir, um die Hafenpromenade von Dover und einige Nebenstraßen zu erkunden. Neben dem Schloss, welches auf einem Felsen über der Statt errichtet wurde und der Uferpromenade ist Dover, für unser dafürhalten, eine ganz normale Hafenstatt mit einigen charmanten Ecken, aber nichts für einen längeren Aufenthalt. Egal, denn den hatten wir ja eh nicht. Es sollte ja bereits gegen 12 Uhr weiter Richtung Eastbourne gehen. Ja, der Zeitplan ist halt eng getastet, wenn man nur drei Monate Zeit hat.
Die Fahrt nach Eastbourne war, verglichen mit den anderen Etappen, eine Kaffeefahrt vom feinsten. Sonne an Deck, glatte See und eine wunderschöne Landschaft zog langsam an uns vorbei. An segeln war nicht zu denken, aber so richtig gestört hat das an diesem Tage niemanden. Die Klippen der Kreidefelsen boten uns, zusammen mit dem türkisen Wasser, ein tolles Panorama. So verging die Zeit dann auch recht schnell. Ganz nebenbei machten wir noch einen kleinen Lehrgang über die Feuerbekämpfung an Bord eines Schiffes, sowie die besonderen Gefahren in einer solchen Situation.
Gegen 19 Uhr erreichten wir schließlich die Schleuse zum Hafen von Eastbourne, welcher jedoch nicht direkt in der Stadt liegt. Nach einem kurzen Ein- und Ausschleusen wurde uns ein Liegeplatz in einem der Binnenhäfen zugewiesen. Während der Überfahrt fühlte sich Michelle dazu berufen, ihre erlernten, asiatischen Kochkünste unter Beweis zu stellen, und so gab es an diesem Abend eine Asiatische Hähnchenpfanne, welche unsere „Kaffeefahrt“ mehr als gebührend abrundete. Danach hatten wir genug Energie, um noch einen kurzen Zug durch die Gemeinde zu machen. Fazit: Sehr Idyllisch. Zumindest im dunkeln. Wie es im hellen ist? Keine Ahnung, ich „sag" nur: Drei Monate! ;-) Aber wir wollen ja in die Wärme und bis jetzt ist es immer nur kälter geworden. Daher war bereits am nächsten Tag im 7 Uhr aufstehen angesagt, um unsere Fahrt zu der Isle of Wight zu beginnen. Hier werden wir dann ein bis zwei Tage verweilen.Read more
