      Wortley Hall

      November 4, 2021 in England ⋅ ⛅ 7 °C

We set off northward with smiles on our faces once again. We were heading for Redcar to meet with Karen's parents but had decided to stop of near Wentworth Woodhouse on our way. we had both read about the history of this enormous property and its inhabitants in the book "Black Diamonds" and were keen to see the house for ourselves.
We stayed at Wortley Hall CL site for the first night and enjoyed a short walk around the gardens. Never seen so many ducks on such a small pond, a wedding was being celebrated in the hotel whilst we were there.
The old hall building is in the heart of the old coal mining area in this part of Yorkshire. The colours in the autumn trees were wonderful.
