Al Lackey wasn't very lucky

Made a stop in Blanco to see if any bad hombres were incarcerated in the Old Blanco Jailhouse.

Not today, but the jail figured in "one notorious frontier episode, the infamous Al Lackey killing spree. On August 24, 1885, Lackey set out with his rifle in the Pedernales River area to exterminate his own family. He successively killed his niece, brother, an elderly couple related to him, his daughter, and another relative, and nearly succeeded in killing his wife, son, and a neighbor. Captured in Johnson City, he was brought to Blanco and incarcerated in this jail. Two days later a mob gathered at Brushy Top, rode south to Blanco, yanked Lackey from the jail, and hanged him from a large live oak north of town, still standing on the west side of what is now Highway 281."

We're staying in Guadelupe River State Park. Because we arrived yesterday after the office closed, we had to check in this morning, so we walked down there.

We learned once there that the trail we'd taken was closed, because of rain the night before. We hadn't noticed. I guess we walked right past the giant sign.

It was a beautiful walk, though. Scrubby, rocky, misty, and warm. We were all muddy at the end.Read more

Yes, it is at the top of the hill and the sites more climbing. Deuce handled it.

We just arrived Top of the Hill RV in Boerne.
Yes, more stupid people.
Golf cart leading us to site. Pulls us through a site which would be fine. Stops shows us how to pull to our site. Lots of empty sites. No way we can make 3 very sharp short left turns through another site to ours, and let me mention the leaning tree on second sharp left that would take out top and side of Deuce.
When I made reservation very clear type of coach and towing.
Told escort no way go back to office and have it changed.
Returns and says, okay just back up into the site we are half sitting in that he had us pull through.
“Excuse me we have to unhook jeep to back up.”
Pissed.
Unhooked jeep and backed into pull through.
🤬🤬🤬🤬
And then looking at map -it was all the escorts fault for taking us in the wrong way.
