Today we headed up to The Tower-Roosevelt area to ride out on old-fashioned horse-drawn wagons for a Western style cookout. We rode out several miles into Pleasant Valley at an original wagon stop, where they had a fantastic dinner waiting for us. Our horse driver was Jerry, a local who has lived in the Yellowstone Gardiner area his whole life, who regaled is with tales of the old-timers, the wildlife, and local lore. We ate steak (grilled to your preference), beans, cornbread, and drank cowboy coffee brewed over an open campfire. One staff member brought a guitar and sang songs in old country-western Gene Autrey style while we watched the bison grazing on the other end of the meadow. Such a good relaxing time.Les mer
