    • Caves & Horses...

      September 14, 2022 in the United States ⋅ 🌙 21 °C

    • Day 26

      Hello Ray & Nancy!!!

      June 5 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 75 °F

Met up with our RP pickleball pals, Nancy and Ray, this morning for a couple of games. The weather forecast looked friendly enough, so we made our way to Kirklevington Park in Lexington, KY. However, lo and behold, Mother Nature had other plans. As soon as we stepped onto the court, it started to drizzle, and the pickleballers scattered like they were made of sugar. We managed to score a few points before we were unceremoniously chased off by the rain. Not ones to be deterred, we decided to keep the game alive and headed over to the Christian Church off Tates Creek Road to play indoors. Spoiler alert: we closed the place down like it was last call at a dive bar! Oh, and for the second time on our adventures, we had a Bob Pom sighting! This guy is like Bigfoot but with better hair. 😝

Still buzzing from our indoor pickleball triumph, we set our sights on the Kentucky Horse Park to tackle the Legacy Trail on our bikes. Everything was going smoothly until Nancy’s bike decided it was time for a siesta. 😳 Battery charged, but no juice. With Nancy heading back to the car for some serious bike therapy, the rest of us soldiered on. At mile 5, the heavens opened up and dumped a bucket of rain on us. Thank goodness for that bridge we took refuge under, huddled together like a bunch of wet cats for a good 15-20 minutes.

Soaked to the bone (except for Nancy, our dry little diva), we were starving. We made a beeline for Tres Hermanos Nunez Mexican Restaurant for some "lunner" (yes, that's a thing now! 😂🤣😂). They serve the best Coconut Margaritas on the planet—Beth swears by them and hasn’t found anything close anywhere else. Cheers to soggy adventures and legendary lunner! 🥥🧉🥥🍻

    • Day 34

      Kentucky Horse Park, Lexington, KY

      May 1, 2019 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 25 °C

Day 34 of trip. Switching from Day One Journaling app to Finding Penguins due to technical issues with Day One.

Departed last night's RON site at Cracker Barrel in Bolling Green, KY. Site modrately noisy due to traffic on nearby Interstate, trash pickup, traffic to nearby hotels, etc. Breakfast at MacDonalds in Bolling Green and proceed to Louisville, KY where I visited Evan Williams Distillery and Angel's Envy Distillery. Next stop Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, KY for Bourbon Cream for Deb. Refueled in Lexington, KY and moved to Kentucky Horse Park campground for two nights at site 246.

Spring Rolls for dinner cooked by Deb at campsite on new gas grill.
