      Day 4: Petoskey

      July 3, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 63 °F

Today was more of a "relaxed" day. We started with 9.63 miles of mountain biking on Tanton Trail. Gary really likes this trail, but I'm having a hard time warming up to it. The sticking point is the black trail. It seems like 5 miles of uphill, and it's not the easy kind of uphill! But Gary likes the fast downhill on the other side. It's too fast for me, so I don't enjoy it as much. The trail alternates direction depending on the day. We were doing this in a new (for us) direction. We got to one intersection and the sign was all kinds of wrong. We had a debate about the correct direction when someone (local) came riding down and settled the debate. Otherwise, the trail was ok.

We went back to clean up. This campsite doesn't have enough showers and there is always a line. We're thinking of going to a different one next year. But then it was off to Pond Hill.

We love this place! The food is great! The beer is great! The farm is so much fun to walk around on! There is a scavenger hunt! So, of course, I had to get the contact information for them. I really would like to do a 5k here next year! Our calendar is so full! And I have a half dozen more to contact about next year!

We were there for about 3 hours. Then we went to downtown. In 2020, there was a mud slide along the bike path. We decided to walk to the mud slide area and see how they fixed it....well, they haven't fixed it yet! It was still blocked off. Gary thinks it's going to be permanently blocked off. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Then it was on to Burnt Marshmallow for dinner. They have such a great place! Again, it is on a farm. But all these farm to table menus are going to spoil me! I've been eating way too much!! But it's so good!!

Then it was time to turn in. Early morning tomorrow! We have a run in the morning! 🏃🏼‍♀️

      Camp Pet-O-Sega

      August 22, 2021 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 70 °F

Camp Pet-O-Sega on Pickerel Lake is a hidden gem! Tyson hung out on nearby Burton Lake with old friends for a bachelor party. I explored the campground. There’s a lot to explore too!
