    Exploring Cam Thanh Coconut Village

    I started my day early in the morning with a trip to Cam Thanh Coconut Village, also known as the Water Coconut Forest. This village is a short 15-minute drive from Hoi An, but it feels like a world away. As soon as I arrived, I hopped into a traditional Vietnamese basket boat, called a thung chai, and drifted into the mangrove forests. The boat ride was both peaceful and exhilarating, as the local guides performed tricks with the boats, spinning them around in circles while singing traditional Vietnamese songs. It was such a fun and unique experience!

    The village is famous for its water coconut trees, which stretch as far as the eye can see. As I navigated the waterways, I saw locals casting nets and fishing in the rivers. My guide explained that this region was once a hideout for soldiers during the Vietnam War due to its dense foliage and hidden waterways. The tour was interactive as well—I got to try fishing with the locals and learned how to weave hats from coconut leaves. It was the perfect way to start the day, surrounded by the tranquility of nature and learning about the history and daily life in the village.

    Discovering My Son Sanctuary

    As the sun climbed higher, I made my way to My Son Sanctuary, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that stands as a testament to the Cham civilization. This historical site, nestled in a lush valley surrounded by mountains, is home to a series of ancient Hindu temples dating back to the 4th century.

    Upon arrival, I was struck by the tranquil atmosphere that enveloped the area. The sound of the wind rustling through the trees and the distant chirping of birds created a serene backdrop as I explored the intricate carvings and architectural marvels of the temples. Each structure told a story, reflecting the spiritual and artistic legacy of the Cham people.

    Walking among the ruins, I couldn’t help but feel a profound connection to the past. The towering red brick temples, with their intricate motifs depicting deities and mythological creatures, left me in awe.     Craft at Thanh Ha Pottery Village

    Next on my itinerary was Thanh Ha Pottery Village, known for its traditional pottery-making techniques that have been passed down through generations. As I strolled through the village, I was greeted by the vibrant colors of clay pots, bowls, and vases lining the streets. The craftsmanship was remarkable, and it was clear that the artisans poured their heart and soul into their work.

    I had the opportunity to participate in a pottery workshop, which was both fun and educational. Under the guidance of a skilled potter, I learned how to shape clay into simple forms. Though my attempts were far from perfect, the experience was incredibly rewarding. I even created a small bowl to take home as a souvenir, a tangible reminder of my time in this charming village.

    After the workshop, I wandered through the village and discovered a few quaint shops selling pottery and other handicrafts. I couldn't resist picking up a few pieces to bring back as gifts for friends and family. The warmth and hospitality of the villagers made me feel right at home, and I left with a sense of fulfillment.

    I took a leisurely stroll along the shoreline, letting the cool water wash over my feet. The horizon stretched endlessly, and I watched as the sun dipped lower in the sky, casting a warm golden hue over the landscape. It was a moment of pure bliss, and I found myself reflecting on the day’s adventures.

    As dusk approached, I made my way back to Hoi An Ancient Town, the heart of the city. The streets were alive with activity, and the charming lanterns began to illuminate the narrow alleys, casting a magical glow over the town.

    Walking through the bustling streets, I marveled at the blend of Vietnamese, Chinese, and Japanese influences reflected in the architecture. The old buildings, adorned with colorful lanterns, exuded a timeless charm. I couldn’t resist stopping at some of the boutique shops, where I found beautiful silk garments and handmade souvenirs.

    One of the highlights of my evening was visiting the Japanese Covered Bridge, an iconic symbol of Hoi An. The bridge, with its intricate carvings and lanterns, was even more stunning at night. I stood there for a moment, taking in the serene ambiance as the water beneath reflected the lights from the bridge.

    Dinner was a feast for the senses. I chose a cozy restaurant that offered traditional Vietnamese dishes. From the aromatic pho to the delectable cao lau, each bite was a celebration of flavors. I savored my meal while listening to live music from a nearby café, the melodies adding to the enchanting atmosphere of the evening.
