Vicky 'n' Will's TravelsThanks again Jane 😊
S BaptieI'm intrigued by the orchid markers, are people just picking too many do you think? I remember going for walks near Tanfield and it was overrun with them! X
Vicky 'n' Will's TravelsThat sounds magical! I think it is partly due to problems with picking but also perhaps due to their life cycle. Some orchids will only flower once in their life and after seeds germinate it can take years for the plants to get to flowering stage. This leads to some years with high visibility, then other years where they seemingly disappear. The markers may also be protecting them from being mowed before the seeds have a chance to ripen and distribute.
