Quick tour around the underground wet market! Across the street from the Buddhist temple is a shopping area where produce and fresh seafood is available for purchase.

Folks staffing the market were very friendly - one vendor even let us take Selfies with the fish!Baca lagi

A really neat way to travel to Sentosa Island! Pass purchase is required (approx. 30$ pp), and includes a round trip sky lift ticket to the island (unlimited sky lift use for 1 day), plus island admission. The views make it worth it!

If you're looking for a unique date idea, reservations can be made to dine and ride the sky lift. Same goes for the Singapore flyer! (Giant Ferris Wheel)

  • Orchard Rd to pass the time

    31 Mac 2017, Singapura ⋅ ⛅ 26 °C

Before dinner, I decided to mosey around areas surrounding my hotel. Underground tunnels connect shopping centers, walkways are packed with eager shoppers, and the prices... are not right. The elephant pictured can be yours for only $15,000 sing.

I also decided to check out a nearby yoga studio for temporary membership. Why not? It's only $428 per month for unlimited classes. 😶 #heartattack

The chicken tikka was literally heaven. Words cannot describe my newfound love for this place. I also tried lime juice for the first time - much like lemonade but more tart. I highly recommend!! #paleocheatmonth

  • Cavanaugh and Orchard Rd

    1 April 2017, Singapura ⋅ ⛅ 25 °C

I started today with an early morning quest to find street food.

Setting off at about 5 30 am, I didn't really know what to expect. I was surprised to see so many people wandering the roadways so early on a Saturday.

After walking for quite some time down Orchard rd, I came across a rather sketchy area where there were a lot of young folks hanging around. To my left, I saw an adult boutique and a few policemen patrolling the area. I soon realized this is probably not somewhere I should be. But alas, when I looked right - I found it! A street vendor serving early morning (or late night for some) Singaporean specialties. So before high tailing it out of there, I got a plate of "Singapore's famous hainanes chicken rice" for $5.

This dish was interesting. A must try if you're a first timer in Singapore - I think once was enough for me. The chicken is seasoned and poached (or steamed - it's hard to tell) and chilled. Once cold, the meat is served over hot butter rice. The chicken was very tender, but I couldn't quite get over the fact it was cold. The rice was fantastic.

  • Food City

    1 April 2017, Singapura ⋅ ⛅ 26 °C

Very little is open at 6 am except a few gem eateries. This is my second stop this morning for breakfast - how can I say no to food? #whatdiet

This venue was tucked away in the basement of a shopping complex. The only reason I knew it was open was the light from a small window at the sidewalks edge.

This stand only serves beverages, and an egg and toast breakfast (at least before 8 am). I got the combo for $3.90.

The coffee is sooo good. Its sweetened with condensed milk from a can that makes it incredibly rich and thick. The toast is served with a sweet butter, and the eggs come soft boiled. Yes, soft. This was a surprise when I cracked it open and a delicious mass of poached-like goodness dropped on my plate. So much could have gone wrong.

The eggs can be topped with soy or garlic salt. This sweet and salty combo is perfect for the morning - especially for under $5!

I spent a good hour in this small food court today enjoying the food and watching the vendors trickle in to get their day started. Each vendor booth is set up almost buffet like for their product display, and their kitchens are almost fully visible to customers. Something about the smells and watching the food preparation process was very, very comforting.

Stop 2 today was a museum filled with art from Singaporean and Southeast Asian artists. I was surprised by all the political pieces - especially around Filipino history and the hardships my ancestors faced during the Spanish and Japanese acquisitions.Baca lagi

Lunch! This place was highly regarded by a travel book one of my colleagues had. It's inside the museum and they serve Singaporean dishes with Peranakan influence. Apparently you need to make reservations for this place 2 weeks in advance! Since we got there early, we were able to get a table under a 45 minute time limit (More than enough time for us).

Must try: The meatless meatballs with chicken rice!
