2010 South America

In 2010 a small group of Ghostriders travelled to South America to complete our first cycling and trekking adventure on that continent. As part of the trip we trekked the famous Inca Trail to Macchu Pichu. Read more
  • Colonia Del Sacramento

    It is possible to catch a high speed ferry across the Rio de la Plata to Colonia del Sacramento in Uruguay. This quaint town is actually one of the oldest settlements in South America. It provides a very welcome contrast to the hustle and bustle of Buenos Aires.

    We spent the day wandering its quiet tree lined streets and enjoying the tranquil surroundings. This is a place that I would love to spend more time in (and I did return here in 2018 to have a better look at the place).

  • Goodbye Argentina

    After an amazing time in South America, it was time to start the long journey back to Australia. I don't think that anyone actually looks forward to a marathon 16 hour flight, but this one did have a surprise highlight. Mid way through the flight. I was able to open the window and look down on the massive expanse of white floating ice surrounding Antarctica. I have always wanted to travel to Antarctica, maybe this would be as close as I will ever get.
