Peak District

After a 3 hour drive, we arrived late yesterday afternoon to check into our AirBnB. The Peak District is the first UK National Park located near Manchester that is known for its limestone hills and popular for hiking and camping. We were able to bring Stevie along for the trip which she certainly appreciated. It rained as we pulled up but quickly stopped after unloading so we made our way into the nearby town of Buxton for a pub dinner. After dinner, we grabbed some milk and snacks at the store (as we brought most of our food along this time) before home to enjoy the hot tub. We are surrounded by beautiful rolling hills, full of sheep and cattle. After the hot tub, we headed off to bed (with no internet or cell signal).
Today, we ate breakfast in before heading out for our first hike. 20 minutes in and a light rain came down but quickly stopped before we got through our first field. The terrain reminds me of Wales and Ireland combined. After climbing our first hill, we got our first glimpse of the popular Chrome Hill. A popular destination, it was featured in the series finale of Peaky Blinders and was very beautiful. A bit of slippery walk but amazing views at the top. After heading down, the terrain leveled out and we continued across the sheep fields and found the local ‘honesty’ shop - full of local baked goods, candles, coffees and teas along with ice cream. After everyone grabbed a snack, we headed through the small village of Hollinsclough before making our way back to our AirBnB. Joce ran out for a few supplies for dinner while I worked on fantasy football draft materials and the kids had a late lunch.
Time for some game time (Sequence). Joce and I took a walk up the nearby hills before dinner. Then hot tub again on a calm night.Read more
