We grabbed the 8:30am water taxi back to Belize City. It was a beautiful ride on the boat, passing several cayes along the way. The turquoise waters were a little dull today, with a sky full of clouds threatening to rain again. Regardless of the weather, the scenery is still gorgeous. My favorite part of the boat ride was passing a little spit of land, maybe a square acre in size, which had a lone, two-story house and a couple of trees. Mmm, that's my idea of paradise: no people and surrounded by ocean.

We did our last minute shopping in the airport before flying off to Houston. We were already talking about the next time we come to Belize. On the plane I realized that Kim had put the hemp-based anti-itch oil in my bag. It would be just my luck that the drug dog at the Houston airport hits on my luggage. I tried to convince myself that it would be a funny story to tell, but not really. Luckily the customs officials had better things to do than bother a couple of girls from Colorado. We were in and out of customs in no time. The flight to Denver was quick, and my reliable brother was perfectly on time to give us a ride home.

So, if you're going to Belize, here are the top ten things we enjoyed the most:

    10. Eating
    9. Learning about old school reggae
    8. Watching a local soccer game
    7. Scuba diving the second largest barrier reef on earth
    6. Sailing around the cayes
    5. Learning about the medicinal properties of the rain forest
    4. Touring Tikal (even though it's in Guatemala)
    3. Watching a spotted eagle ray glide through the coral at Hol Chan Marine Reserve
    2. Caving through ATM with Carlos
    1. Interacting with the incredibly friendly and kind Belizean people
