Collier Seminole State park

Great State Park that is close to Civilization yet far away! You feel like you are in another world. The park has only electric and Water hookups and it is not really suited for large motor homes. Our 18 foot travel trailer was cozy. There were other larger units but they seemed to have a hard time getting in. This park does have BUGS so make sure to bring mosquito spray! Great history and neat trails. You will feel like you are going back in time into the Jurassic park era. Canoe rentals and biking. We stayed one night on our way to Miami but enjoyed it as we hiked and geocached. There is a gas station/ store less than a mile from Entrance where you can get thing you might have forgotten.Read more

Larry and Penny Thompson Park

This is an park/campground that is owned by the City. It is over 270 acres of woolands, bridle trails, hiking paths and a freshwater lake with a water park that is open in the summer. It offers full hookups including cable and has pool and wifi in the clubhouse. It is a very family oriented park and seems very easy going. The park is large with over 240 campsites. Some only for tents. It is right by the Miami Zoo. There are restrooms with hot showers and a laundry as well. The restrooms were not the best but they were not horrible either. This used to be a Mango orchard and it shows with hundreds of Mango trees. All the sites are different. Some are shaded. Some are not. We got a site under the Mango tree but since it is March, the fruit is not ripe. We plan on coming back again in July. We stayed on Pod 4 campsite 11Read more

Great Food near Miam/Kendall

Because I am Puertorrican, I love the food here and I am partial the the latin food. Here are some of the shots of the Cafe/bakeries near by!

And because I'm a German-Hungarian born and raise in Hieleah... I swing both ways... I mean I love latin food too!

South Beach

A stop in Miami cant be true if you do not head to South Beach! A party town with great food. Traffic was horrible on a Friday night but that was part of the charm I guess. Had to park far away so expect to walk a lot! Wear comfortable shoes. We found a great place to eat and listen to music! (Tropical Cafe)Read more

On Saturday we enjoyed sleeping in, Visiting a well known restaurant on Calle ocho in Miami, La Carreta, Visiting with Paul's brother and wife and ended the night going to the largest Fair in Florida! The Miami youth Fair.Read more
