Today we got up and checked out of our hotel. We went to the cafe next door for breakfast and got an egg & bacon roll and a coffee. Next, we walked through the CBD to the port, got a ferry to Manly, and then took the bus to the headland. We walked around the bush and explored the old naval ruins. We then walked along the path to the beach and found a geocache! Once we got to the beach, we found a cafe called the Boathouse, got a pint, and had some delicious oysters. I also got a gingerbread boat. We then had to rush back to get the ferry back to the mainland. Once we were back on the mainland, we walked back to the fancy chocolate shop to get more chocolate and then popped back into the pizza shop for lunch. After that, we took the train to a music shop in Sydney. Finally, we got the train to the airport and went through security to find out our flight was delayed. Eventually, we got on the plane, and I was sitting in the window seat on the exit row, so I got loads of legroom! 😍 We then landed back in Brisbane and got the train back home. I unpacked and then went to bed!Weiterlesen

We then went around and looked at the koalas and birds. When we went to the other desk, we got the last two slots to hold the koalas! After feeding the kangaroos, we went and held a koala! Today I got up and walked to The Wesley Hospital. After changing into scrubs, I had a lecture with Dr O’Rourke. Today he asked me for my five patients. I had one of my bimax and genioplasty patients chosen, and I discussed how you do mandible alignments and ensure correct occlusion. We then had a lecture on the pancreas and liver. Next, I went outside and had a coffee with Yasmin and James before the afternoon list. Today was a urology list, and I got to scrub for the last case to assist. After the first three patients, we went to the staff room. Dr O'Rourke bought everyone coffee, and somebody made delicious brownies for the team to enjoy! We then did the next two patients, and I went for lunch with Lachlan, Yasmin, and Andy. Next, we went down to the A&E department and saw a patient with Dr O'Rourke; it was decided that she needed to be operated on that day, and she was added to the end of the list. After this, we did another case, and then Dr O'Rourke asked us to go and see a patient transferred in from another hospital. We then finished the final patient on the planned list. Dr O'Rourke took us to the surgeons' lounge and told us to have dinner. I had a chicken curry and vegetables, and then we operated on the final patient on the list admitted from A&E. At the end, Dr McKevitt invited me to Noosa. Yasmin, Lachlan, Dr O'Rourke and Dr McKevitt also tried to convince me to come to Australia to work, which I'm tempted to, and then Dr O'Rourke asked me to join him in clinics and check on his patients tomorrow morning. I then went down to the medical school with Lachlan to sign out and check the theatre lists for tomorrow, and then I went home and went to bed.Weiterlesen
