  • Scenic World Blue Mountains

    26 Februari, Australia ⋅ ☁️ 28 °C

The last stop for today is at Scenic World, an old coal mine in the mountains. First we take the gondola over to the train.
The coal mine closed long ago, but it is such a nice rain forest, they decided to turn it into a tourist area. There is a steep train ride, that was a part of the coal train. It puts you in position to walk a boardwalks through the forest and then ride a cable car back up to the top.

The train holds the Guinness Book record for the steepest passenger railway in the world. It has a 52 degree incline!

Dinner was our own adventure. We caught the tram to The Rocks. Tom guided us to one of the oldest restaurants with a rooftop patio and we enjoyed our evening.

Up early for a city tour. It was a drive bye viewing of China Town, the Parliament buildings, Darling harbour, Anzac Bridge, Sydney opera,, Hyde Park, Central Station, Oxford Street, Paddington, a number of bays (Double Bay, Rose Bay), expensive homes and finally a stop at The Gap with a beautiful view and walking path,!

The tour ended with Bondi beach. Full circle for Tom and I. Our first day was a hike to Bondi from the south and now we arrive from the North😀

  • Sydney Opera House

    27 Februari, Australia ⋅ ☁️ 27 °C

Our tour of the Opera House was set for 4:30, and it started pretty much on time. It took 14 years to build the opera house. The are two theatres, one seating around 1500 and the other seating around 2500. It is a very interesting place to tour and it only makes you want to see a performance at the iconic venue.Baca lagi

  • Say goodbye to Sydney

    28 Februari, Australia ⋅ ⛅ 30 °C

We were up early once again to catch our Qantas flight to Auckland. It is an international flight so we were at the airport 4 hours prior with breakfast boxes in hand. There are 7 of us carrying on to New Zealand.
There is also a 2 hour time change; so this is a travel day!

Australia is a huge county and we definitely felt the vastness of it. We were glad to have been able to fly to/from many of the destinations. The people are kind and helpful and we seem to have a lot in common with the Aussies.

    I loved this phrase
“Let’s make a Maccas avro run!”
(Any guesses to what I am talking about?)

Here are a few words and phrases we heard often on our travels

    Sticky beak
    Heaps
Out flat like a lizard drinking
    Bits and bobs
    Bush Tucker (pronounced taca)
    Long drop toilet
    Take the micky
    Dobbed in
