Biking to the Douro River Valley

Left Salamanca and drove 3 hours to Portugal. Stopped at a unique convenience store for coffee and bathroom-quite an interesting assortment of merchandise-Iberian Ham, guns and snacks. Then rode the bikes 18 miles to lunch at a farm house where everything we ate, they grew. And now we are in the country of Port wine so had some after lunch-very nice. Then biked another 29 miles up the mountains and then down to the river valley. Absolutely the most breathtaking scenery I have seen!!!! Pictures don't do it justice! Every turn, I was in awe!! Even with cloudy, slightly rainy weather. Beautiful hotel tonight-dinner in their wine cellar. Enjoyed their tawny port. More Portugal tomorrowLeggi altro
