Aizuwakamatsu

I left Nikko to take a local Train to Utsunomiya, then the Shinkansen to Koriyama, and then another local train towards Aizuwakamatsu. A town that is just as much Aizu as it is Wakamatsu :-) It's refreshing to experience a rural town (still more than 100000 inhabitants) It's a Samurai Town that was an important place in the Tohoku Region, and it saw many clans as overseeers. I checked into my hotel around 13:00 and then went out to visit the castle. I spent the remainder of the afternoon enjoying the castle grounds and a nice hot matcha green tea at the castle tea house.
