Detour…
21 février, Espagne ⋅ ☁️ 18 °C
Like on a game board where the goal is just have wonderful experiences and avoid the road bumps, we got the detour card. Today was pretty much a bust.
Rod wasn’t feeling well from the moment he got up. Lots of indigestion and his feet were really painful. And I got up thinking I’m finally at the end of my medication and I was feeling really well… not to be!
We got the 80 minute train to Granada and took a five minute taxi ride to the hotel. Rod was really miserable by now and just needed to get off his feet. The manager/owner was so gracious to get our room ready four hours early. I ran out to get a sandwich but it tasted nasty so I didn’t eat it. About an hour or so later I went out again to get a sandwich from another place and one bite I was done. By 4 pm I was not feeling well. I wasn’t sure if it was sympathy for Rod or my own real issues. I won’t bore you with details suffice to say that by 8 pm, By then Rod was feeling a little better having slept all day. I was really sick and only V relieved my distress. (Octopus from the night before.)
I had booked a flamenco dinner and dance experience for 6:45 pm. I decided to email and ask if we could reschedule for Saturday explaining that my husband had, oh yes!, food poisoning. They were so gracious to say yes!! So Saturday night we will go.
Our detour included missing all the great sites of Granada!! Before our room was ready we walked around for maybe 20 minutes. There is a university right behind the hotel. We walked around for a few minutes and then went down a few streets. Old town is very similar to other ‘old towns’ in that streets are narrow, curvy and intertwined making it challenging to remember all the left and rights!
The building where we are staying was built in 1886. They restored the building over Covid and the spacious apartments are a combination of old architecture with original floor tile and new stylish cabinets and finishes. Very comfortable and I have to say Spaniards are so clean!! Great place to take refuge during our time of distress.
I have limited photos for today so I am only posting our pics from the cathedral in Toledo. It was so impressive!En savoir plus
