    Chuson Ji Temple

    19 октября 2025 г., Япония ⋅ ☁️ 15 °C

Chūson-ji is situated on the top of a hill named Kanzan, and often called Kanzan Chūson-ji. According to temple records, it was founded in 850 by Ennin (Jikaku Daishi), a monk associated with the great monastery Enryakuji and third head abbot of the Tendai sect. Ennin is also known for the autobiographical record of his travels and study of Buddhism on the continent, regarded by some as one of the world's greatest travelogues.Читать далее

    Dinner at Ichinoseki

    19 октября 2025 г., Япония ⋅ ☁️ 12 °C

We had been eating seafood every day, so it was time to try some meat in Japan. We went to Bikkuri Donkey to enjoy Japanese-style hamburger steak.

Their patties are made from a blend of ground beef and pork — the beef comes from pasture-raised cattle, and the pork from pigs raised under strict standards. Their special soy sauce–based sauce makes the hamburger steak especially savory and delicious.Читать далее

    Shinkan Sen

    20 октября 2025 г., Япония ⋅ ⛅ 10 °C

For most of the S2J 2025 Travelers, it was their first time riding the Shinkansen (bullet train). Everyone was very excited and checked out of the hotel around 6:30 a.m. to catch the 7:12 a.m. train, enjoying sandwiches on board. It was only an 80-minute ride from Ichinoseki to Hachinohe this time.Читать далее

    Hiking along the Oirase Gorge

    20 октября 2025 г., Япония ⋅ ☁️ 10 °C

The Oirase Stream Trail is a 14-kilometer path along the Oirase Gorge in Aomori Prefecture. The relatively flat and well-maintained trail is suitable for most fitness levels and follows the stream as it flows from Lake Towada.

Most people enjoyed a three-hour hike to Lake Towada, taking in the beautiful scenery of the streams and autumn colors, and arrived at the lake by 1pm.

    20 октября 2025 г., Япония ⋅ ☁️ 10 °C

There was a strong bear alert in Japan, so we shortened our hike and carefully made our way to Lake Tsutanuma. The autumn colors had just begun to appear, creating a beautiful and peaceful scene.

    Autumn Colors

    20 октября 2025 г., Япония ⋅ ☁️ 10 °C

During the information session, I strongly highlighted the autumn colors along the route from Towada to Aomori. It was a beautiful 30-minute ride, though I couldn’t capture good photos or videos. I hope everyone keeps the memory of this scenic journey.Читать далее

    Hakkoda Ropeway

    21 октября 2025 г., Япония ⋅ ☁️ 9 °C

The Hakkoda Ropeway was suspended the day before due to strong winds, and they had the first snowfall of the season last night. Around the ropeway station, the autumn colors were beautiful, and we enjoyed the stunning scenery. After climbing to the top of the mountain, we were greeted by another kind of beauty — a landscape covered in white snow. We were very lucky to experience such a variety of scenery in one morning.Читать далее

    Apple Picking

    21 октября 2025 г., Япония ⋅ ☁️ 10 °C

Aomori is famous for its apples, and we enjoyed picking Shinano Sweet apples. I had never eaten such a delicious apple in my life! We were allowed to take back the two apples we picked.
