Awanui

Moved on to Awanui today to a POP. A bit noisy being on the main road but quieter at night time.
Day 2 Went for a bike ride to a nearby lake. Good to be able to get the bikes off the camper and blow out the cobwebs
Day 3 Went on a bus trip with Harrison's to Cape Reinga today, nearly 46 years since we last went. Stopped on the way up at Hauhoro holiday park. Some amusing signs on the doors to the cafe. A great spot. Then on to the Cape after another stop for lunch. Walked to the lighthouse and spent time just looking at the view. Back on the bus to the sand dunes where we did a bit of sand surfing. Then onto the beach where we had to wait for the tide to go out a bit. The number a pippies in the sand is amazing. Drive down the beach uneventful except for a women who did a browni eye. Huge cheer from the bus. Last stop of the day was at the northern most pub for a quick drink while the bus driver cleaned the bus. Bus driver was a bit of a laugh at times. Lunch was a bit disappointing, half a foccacia loaf apples and biscuits.Read more
