Montez le son, c’est vraiment impressionnant !!!!! 🔊🌙

Encore une journée de camping improvisé ⛺

Cette fois, on repère un camping “gratuit”. On arrive sur place… mais aucune indication de réception, aucun panneau explicatif, rien. On décide donc d’explorer les lieux à vélo 🚲

Il y a bien des emplacements numérotés, mais presque tous sont occupés par des veilles caravanes ou des installations un peu bricolées. On comprend vite que ça ressemble davantage à un coin de pêcheurs qu’à un vrai camping. Pourtant, il y a très peu de monde.

On avance encore un peu, puis après concertation, on décide de continuer et de chercher un endroit plus retiré pour camper en sauvage.

Je trouve un lieu potentiel sur Google Maps à moins d’un kilomètre 📍
On s’y rend…

Et là… waouh.
Incroyable 😍

Un spot au bord du Danube, avec un accès à l’eau pour se laver, une table de pique-nique, un terrain bien plat pour poser la tente et… du bois pour faire un feu 🔥

On partage immédiatement cet endroit sur le site campwild.org
Notre ajout est le premier spot en Serbie sur la carte !!!

On s’installe, on lance le feu, et là… quel bonheur 🧡
Ça nous réchauffe, l’ambiance est parfaite et on se dit même qu’on pourra prendre notre douche près du feu plus tard dans la soirée 😄

Autour de nous, c’est un calme fou.
Pas de voitures, personne, aucun bruit humain.

Mais la nature, elle, se fait bien entendre 🌌

Des crapauds, des oiseaux, les poissons qui sautent dans l’eau et nous font sursauter à chaque fois 🐸🐟 Et puis au loin… un cri très particulier.

Un son qu’on avait déjà entendu deux jours plus tôt, perdu au fond de la forêt.

On a l’impression que ceux qui poussent ces cris se répondent, comme s’ils communiquaient entre eux. C’est étrange et un peu inquiétant 😅

“Ce ne sont pas des loups”, dit Patrice.
“J’ai déjà entendu une meute de loups au Canada et c’est différent”

Alors… c’est quoi ?
Des oiseaux ?
Un autre animal ?

Et là, le bruit se rapproche. Très proche.

Réflexe immédiat, on lance la caméra du téléphone 📱
Quitte à se faire attaquer autant avoir la scène en vidéo 😂 (bon… on blague hein 😅)

L’hurlement est maintenant à moins de 50 mètres.
Et ça répond de l’autre côté.

Franchement… c’est hyper impressionnant.

On envoie tout de suite la vidéo à Karl pour tenter d’éclaircir le mystère.

Sa première réponse :
“On dirait des coyotes !”

Sauf que… il n’y a pas de coyotes en Serbie 😅

Il fait alors quelques recherches et selon lui ce seraient des chacals dorés.

De quoi nous rassurer, le chacal doré a plutôt peur de l’être humain. En revanche, il peut s’intéresser aux poules, aux petits animaux et aux déchets mal protégés 🐺

Bref… une soirée de plus qu’on n’est pas près d’oublier.

Et petite pensée pour Yan, qui avait gardé le feu allumé toute la nuit lors de sa rencontre avec un ours 🔥🐻😅

Turn the sound up, this is seriously impressive!!!!! 🔊🌙

Another day of improvised camping ⛺

This time, we spotted a “free” campsite. We arrived there… but there was no sign of a reception area, no information board, nothing at all. So we decided to explore the area by bike 🚲

There were numbered pitches, but almost all of them were occupied by old caravans or rather makeshift setups. We quickly realized it looked more like a fishermen’s spot than a real campsite. And yet, there were very few people around.

We went a little farther, then after discussing it, we decided to keep going and look for a more secluded place to wild camp.

I found a potential spot on Google Maps less than a kilometer away 📍
So we headed there…

And then… wow.
Incredible 😍

A spot right on the Danube, with access to the water for washing, a picnic table, perfectly flat ground for pitching the tent and… wood for making a fire 🔥

We immediately shared this place on the campwild.org website.
Our addition is the very first spot in Serbia on the map!!!

We settled in, got the fire going, and wow… what a joy 🧡
It warmed us up, the atmosphere was perfect, and we even thought we could take our shower by the fire later that evening 😄

All around us, it was unbelievably quiet.
No cars, no people, no human noise at all.

But nature definitely made itself heard 🌌

Toads, birds, fish jumping in the water and startling us every single time 🐸🐟 And then in the distance… a very unusual cry.

It was a sound we had already heard two days earlier, deep in the middle of the forest.

It felt like whatever was making those calls was answering each other, as if they were communicating. Strange and a little unsettling 😅

“These aren’t wolves,” said Patrice.
“I’ve already heard a wolf pack in Canada, and it sounds different.”

So… what is it?
Birds?
Another animal?

And then the sound came closer. Very close.

Instant reflex: we started recording with the phone 📱
If we were going to get attacked, we might as well have it on video 😂 (just kidding… well, kind of 😅)

The howling was now less than 50 meters away.
And something was answering from the other side.

Honestly… it was incredibly impressive.

We immediately sent the video to Karl to try to solve the mystery.

His first reply:
“Sounds like coyotes!”

Except… there are no coyotes in Serbia 😅

So he did a bit of research, and according to him, they were golden jackals.

Which was actually reassuring, because golden jackals are generally afraid of humans. On the other hand, they can be interested in chickens, small animals, and poorly protected waste 🐺

Anyway… yet another evening we are not likely to forget anytime soon.

And a little thought for Yan, who kept the fire going all night when he came across a bear 🔥🐻😅
