Visited family friends, the Warricks. The next day, we went on the sky tram up 10k feet. It boasts breathtaking views, and the restaurant was great. With amazing food and even better views. We did a small hike, but since we weren't dressed accordingly, it wasn't a long hike. But we did have a good snowball fight.

We returned to the camper, put hiking clothes on, and drove to Battleship Rock outside of Jemes Springs for a supposed short hike to natural hot springs. Unfortunately, after almost 2 hours hiking and no springs in site, we were losing daylight and had to turn back. But it was a breathtaking hike.

  • Flaming Gorge, UT

    Feb 5–7, 2025 in the United States ⋅ 🌬 48 °F

After a quick stop in Fort Collins, where London played in the playground with challenges from Keian, we made our way to Flaming Gorge. The drive was challenging as the wind was harsh blowing trucks off the road. Then it started to rain and when the weather got colder it turned to sleet and we soon realized our windshield wipers needed replacing! We made it to a rest stop on Elk Mountain where we camped for the night but it was extremely windy and cold.
The next day, after a stop for me windshield wipers and London mailing her first postcards, we made it to Flaming Gorge. The sites were surreal because after each turn, there was a different scene: desert, snow, forest, water, plains. We spent the full day driving the diverse scenery before camping in an overlook.

  • Salt Lake City, UT

    Feb 7–9, 2025 in the United States ⋅ ☁️ 43 °F

Went to the Natural History Museum that had great exhibits on dinosaurs, the first peoples, orcas, and clean energy. When leaving the museum, it was snowing, and we realized it was the first time London saw snow falling when she announced, "It looks like baby bubbles!"

Visited Gilgal Sculpure Garden and the Cathedral of the Madeline (a catholic church from 1909 with beautiful architecture and stained glass). Then we headed to Sugar House playground.

Once London had her fill, we visited the Great Salt Lake. We were surprised to see how low it was. It was a very long, cold walk all the way to the water. Honestly after seeing all the dead birds there, I was too scared to touch the water but the mountains in the background made a pretty view. We later found out, the dead birds are not abnormal. They just don't decompose like typical due to the salt and cold of the lake.

After a full day, travel to San Diego, we spent the day in the world-renowned San Diego Zoo. While visiting via wheel chair wouldn't have been my preferred choice, it allowed the family to see everything. San Diego, as a whole, had beautiful countryside, but unfortunately, a lot of homeless and parking was a major issue.
We soon left for a beautiful drive down the coast of the Pacific. London did her home school at a picnic table by the coast overlooking wildlife.

  • Sequoia National Forest, CA

    Mar 6–8, 2025 in the United States ⋅ 🌫 16 °F

Drove through beautiful California orchards and farm lands to get to the Sequoia National Forest. I couldn't help but pull over and run to sneak a couple oranges from the beautiful and bountiful trees.
We arrived in the Sequoia National Forest first through the south entrance but found the roads closed at Hospital Rock due to snow. While it was beautiful, we weren't able to see and Sequoias. Therefore we went to the north entrance the next day. The drive was through snowy mountains. If that wasn't reward enough, we were able to see some ancient and monstrous Sequoias to include General Grant and his "troops".

    Mar 7–9, 2025 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 59 °F

Happened upon a Celtic Faire that more resembled a Renaissance festival. Met a great guy, Ragnar, in camp and he outfitted Keian. London dressed up for the first time as a viking, and Keian got his hair cut!
During the festival we found some great items for our costumes and had a great time. The Scottish bands were excellent. We spent the nights drinking homemade honey mead and eating at the campfire.
