    19 januari 2025, Verenigde Staten ⋅ 🌬 34 °F

Long day of travel going through 3 states: Florida, Alabama, and Mississippi. It was really cold at 37 degrees. We stopped at a playground that was too cold for anybody else and a petrified forest in Mississippi. It was amazing to see trees over 37 million years old.Meer informatie

  • Little Rock, AR

    20–22 jan. 2025, Verenigde Staten ⋅ ☀️ 27 °F

Wonderful (but cold) time in Little Rock, AR. Explored the Old Mill and the amazing artistry. We then walked along the frigid Riverside and took a trolley around downtown Little Rock and North Little Rock. We learned they are 2 separate cities!!
The next day we had a fantastic and educational day in the Museum of Discovery.

  • Albuquerque, NM

    30 jan.–1 feb. 2025, Verenigde Staten ⋅ ☀️ 48 °F

Visited family friends, the Warricks. The next day, we went on the sky tram up 10k feet. It boasts breathtaking views, and the restaurant was great. With amazing food and even better views. We did a small hike, but since we weren't dressed accordingly, it wasn't a long hike. But we did have a good snowball fight.

We returned to the camper, put hiking clothes on, and drove to Battleship Rock outside of Jemes Springs for a supposed short hike to natural hot springs. Unfortunately, after almost 2 hours hiking and no springs in site, we were losing daylight and had to turn back. But it was a breathtaking hike.

  • Bandelier National Monument, NM

    1–2 feb. 2025, Verenigde Staten ⋅ ☀️ 54 °F

We camped in Bandelier National Monument Park. The next morning, we hiked around the Pueblo Loop Trail and the Alcove House. The hike was easy but beautiful. We were able to see human carved alcoves in cliffs where people used to live thousands of years prior. We even were able to climb up into one! It was quite the experience that we'll never forget.Meer informatie

Arrived in Zapata Falls Camp site late. The next morning we hiked up the mountain and saw many wild animal tracks to include black bear tracks. The trail ended at Zapata Falls which was unforgettable as it was a frozen waterfall! What an unbelievable site. It felt like a scene from Frozen.Meer informatie

  • Flaming Gorge, UT

    5–7 feb. 2025, Verenigde Staten ⋅ 🌬 48 °F

After a quick stop in Fort Collins, where London played in the playground with challenges from Keian, we made our way to Flaming Gorge. The drive was challenging as the wind was harsh blowing trucks off the road. Then it started to rain and when the weather got colder it turned to sleet and we soon realized our windshield wipers needed replacing! We made it to a rest stop on Elk Mountain where we camped for the night but it was extremely windy and cold.
The next day, after a stop for me windshield wipers and London mailing her first postcards, we made it to Flaming Gorge. The sites were surreal because after each turn, there was a different scene: desert, snow, forest, water, plains. We spent the full day driving the diverse scenery before camping in an overlook.

  • Salt Lake City, UT

    7–9 feb. 2025, Verenigde Staten ⋅ ☁️ 43 °F

Went to the Natural History Museum that had great exhibits on dinosaurs, the first peoples, orcas, and clean energy. When leaving the museum, it was snowing, and we realized it was the first time London saw snow falling when she announced, "It looks like baby bubbles!"

Visited Gilgal Sculpure Garden and the Cathedral of the Madeline (a catholic church from 1909 with beautiful architecture and stained glass). Then we headed to Sugar House playground.

Once London had her fill, we visited the Great Salt Lake. We were surprised to see how low it was. It was a very long, cold walk all the way to the water. Honestly after seeing all the dead birds there, I was too scared to touch the water but the mountains in the background made a pretty view. We later found out, the dead birds are not abnormal. They just don't decompose like typical due to the salt and cold of the lake.

Due to unexpected engine problems we spent 3 days in Vegas. We checked out the strip and went to the "V Variety Show" and London got her ears pierced. We even got rain in the dessert.

  • Chandler, AZ

    15–26 feb. 2025, Verenigde Staten ⋅ ☀️ 70 °F

Spent time with my parents in Chandler, AZ. Attended a Renaissance festival and hiked Butcher Jones Trail. Unfortunately I hurt my foot during the hike which allowed us to extend our stay a bit.

  • San Diego, CA

    25–27 feb. 2025, Verenigde Staten ⋅ ☀️ 66 °F

After a full day, travel to San Diego, we spent the day in the world-renowned San Diego Zoo. While visiting via wheel chair wouldn't have been my preferred choice, it allowed the family to see everything. San Diego, as a whole, had beautiful countryside, but unfortunately, a lot of homeless and parking was a major issue.
We soon left for a beautiful drive down the coast of the Pacific. London did her home school at a picnic table by the coast overlooking wildlife.

  • Sequoia National Forest, CA

    6–8 mrt. 2025, Verenigde Staten ⋅ 🌫 16 °F

Drove through beautiful California orchards and farm lands to get to the Sequoia National Forest. I couldn't help but pull over and run to sneak a couple oranges from the beautiful and bountiful trees.
We arrived in the Sequoia National Forest first through the south entrance but found the roads closed at Hospital Rock due to snow. While it was beautiful, we weren't able to see and Sequoias. Therefore we went to the north entrance the next day. The drive was through snowy mountains. If that wasn't reward enough, we were able to see some ancient and monstrous Sequoias to include General Grant and his "troops".

  • Celtic Faire, CA

    7–9 mrt. 2025, Verenigde Staten ⋅ ☀️ 59 °F

Happened upon a Celtic Faire that more resembled a Renaissance festival. Met a great guy, Ragnar, in camp and he outfitted Keian. London dressed up for the first time as a viking, and Keian got his hair cut!
During the festival we found some great items for our costumes and had a great time. The Scottish bands were excellent. We spent the nights drinking homemade honey mead and eating at the campfire.
