I am an Italian that started travelling abroad really late, but hasn't stopped since! Shortly after my first trip I moved to France where I lived for 7+ years. I left to move to Helsinki in 2014 and love this pocket size European capital.

The amazing view from Ateljee Bar

    May 21, 2017 in Finland ⋅ ☀️ 16 °C

I have only spent 30 minutes on this terrace before going to the cinema, but what a view! It's on the 14th floor of Sokos Hotel Torni. It has a small space indoors and 2 tiny terraces (one on either side).

This is the one picture I could take as I was there with friends. Will visit again!

    Cherry blossoms in the park

    May 20, 2017 in Finland ⋅ ⛅ 18 °C

What a beautiful sunny day! People might think Finland is all snow and darkness, but we do in fact get a beautiful sunny season too!

Roihuvuoren Kirsikkapuisto is a park situated in the East of Helsinki and this was my first visit. The official event for the Cherry Blossoms is on Sunday, with a picnic, dances and an introduction to the Japanese culture.

As I am not able to go on Sunday, I figured I would drop by anyway on Saturday and it was the best idea! It was not crowded as much as on an event day and the blossoms were beautiful!

    Definitely a great find :)

Design is a huge part of the local culture, and with the sunny season finally starting, it is quite common to walk past markets, pop up stores and booths.

Today we checked out the one day event "Design District Market" at Diana-puisto.

    Big Star

    May 11, 2017 in Italy ⋅ ⛅ 24 °C

The Big Star is a must stop whenever I visit as that's where I'll most likely find some of my friends. They have a great selection of beer and wines, plus they also serve food.

We arrived late afternoon and the bar counter was covered with a buffet of savoury cakes, for the "aperitivo". As long as you order drinks, you can eat as much of that as you want with it.

We decided to stay for dinner too, and I went for the oven baked scamorza, which I adore. My friend had the meatballs and veggies.

    Guido Reni District

    May 11, 2017 in Italy ⋅ ⛅ 25 °C

I had already seen the Real Bodies exhibit in Lisbon last year but it was so worth going again!

The Guido Reni District is a great new location (from late 2016), right across from MAXXI, the museum. And, if you like kitties, there is a really nice protected feline colony right across :)

As for the exhibit itself, it is a rare chance to see human bodies up close. It is definitely not for every stomach, but it has great educational value. As for the one in Lisbon, I have found the foetal room to be the hardest to watch, and the nervous system area to be incredibly fascinating. It took us about 90 minutes to go through it, so put some time aside.

There#s an Alice in Wonderland themed small cafe# with a garden, outside the exhibit.

We were planning to visit the square in front of MAXXI afterwards, but it was closed due to some kind of event.

    Parco di Bomarzo

    May 9, 2017 in Italy ⋅ ⛅ 19 °C

The sacred park of Bomarzo is home to 38 fantastic and scary sculptures. The area was the idea of a prince in 1552 and the statues were sculpted on site.

We arrived around lunch time and were welcomed by a thunder and hail storm, it was quite noisy and wet, so we decided to go for lunch and wait it (hopefully) out. An incredibly nice meal (Ristorante La Molinella, you were amazing) later, we tried our luck to the park again as the storm had stopped.

The sky was an incredible shade of blue, which worked perfectly against the colour of the wet grass and the sculptures. Due to the storm, the park was basically empty, making the walk even better!

I hadn't been here since I was about 8 and had been wanting to go again for a while now. I didn't regret it for a second!

    Blue Lagoon

    April 2, 2017 in Iceland ⋅ 🌧 5 °C

I didn't take any pics, it was super windy! We got caught by a hailstorm as well, which made the whole thing as unpleasant as it sounds.

My guess is that the place is much better on a milder day. Getting in the pool, during the rain and with the winds wanting to take out faces off, only to be welcomed by lukewarm water (I am told it gets much warmer close to the source, but I never made it there) was not what I had in mind.

Will try again in the future :)

    Golden Circle: Geysir

    April 1, 2017 in Iceland ⋅ ☀️ 3 °C

My first ever close up experience with a Geysir! The main one would burst every 4 minutes or so. The air was quite pleasant around it and the areas surrounding the geysirs and hot springs were protected (the water is incredibly hot!)

After seeing the geothermal area, we set off for lunch at an Icelandic horse farm. While Icelandic horses are generally smaller than the average ones, they are not ponies (and locals hate it when they are called like that).
