    April 12 in Slovenia ☁️ 20 °C

Today was moving day. On the drive, we passed villages, vineyards, churches, casinos, castles, mountain views and roundabouts with flowers and Easter bunnies.

In Tomlin, our hotel is a much older hotel in the centre of town. It has been quite nicely renovated. Love the towel warmers in the bathrooms.

Off we went to explore the countryside and visit a historic site. It was an interesting drive through villages with narrow roads and bridges. A one lane bridge so narrow we thought the car would get scratches. Thankfully, It did not. We went up winding, twisting mountain roads, that are scary at times. Mostly due to the other drivers that don’t slow down at curves. Churches are in every town and village with a bell tower and a znamenje (wayside shrine) at the start of the town. They are there to protect and show gratitude for the town.

The mountain views are beautiful. I could look at them all day.

We visited the Napoleon bridge. It was on the mountain, deep in the forest. Built in napoleons time, therefore named after him. Apparently a popular swimming place in the summer

For supper we tried a Slovenian/Italian restaurant. We shared an oven baked local trout and shopska salad, a version of a Greek salad. The trout was very good, even though it was served as a whole fish. The salad dressing was a bit bland. For dessert we tried their Apple pie. It was a cross between a North American apple crisp and pie.
