• Dovje and wedding event

    April 17 in Slovenia ⛅ 21 °C

Ed is loving our breakfasts so much he had 3 Croissants this morning. We spent the afternoon relaxing and enjoying our mountain views.

Then we headed to Tori’s welcome party. It was in a small village, Dovje, around an hour away. To get there we went through Bled and then onto the freeway and through a number of small towns.. Bled was still quite busy, but the real challenge came navigating the extremely narrow streets to get to her rental. The alleys once meant for pedestrians and horses, now used as the road for cars, are barely passable. Dovje is an incredibly charming alpine village in northwestern Slovenia. First mentioned in historical records way back in 1033, it stands as one of the oldest settlements in the Upper Sava Valley It is filled with traditional, decades-old stone and wood farmhouses (called kajže), historic stone portals, and small shrines.

The evening consisted of a wine tasting, a Pub quiz, and BBQ. Linda and I were paired with Ben’s mom and nana for the quiz and our team name was “ Golden Minds”. Ed was on a team with Jeff and Ben’s dad Steve and their team name was the “The Three Wise Men “. It was great fun. An enjoyable evening with family and friends.
