One night in Bangkok

Bangkok ist bekannt für seine Partyszene. So bekannt, dass es Filme darüber gibt. Also bekennender Nicht-Party-Mensch könnte mir das eigentlich egal sein, aber ich wollte trotzdem mal Si Lom (dort befinden sich viele Clubs) sowie die Region um Nana erkunden, um einen Einblick zu gewinnen. Ich sah viele Prostituierte. Ich sah viele Stände, die Sexspielzeug am Straßenrand verkaufen. Ich sah viele alte weiße Männer mit jungen thailändischen Frauen.

Bangkok hat wirklich was zu bieten; auch für die Superreichen. Das Luxuseinkaufszentrum Central Embassy beherbergt Läden von Louis Vuitton, Hermes, Ralph Lauren und vielen mehr. Ich habe mich seltener mehr fehl am Platz gefühlt als dort. Ich fand es beinahe abstoßend, wie viel Geld Leute für solche Luxuswaren ausgeben. Sogar Si Lom konnte ich mehr abgewinnen, da dort trotz der expliziten Gewerbe eine angenehme Atmosphäre herrschte. Ich konnte ein paar Blicke ins Innere von ein paar Stripclubs erhaschen und sah sehr sehr viele sehr knapp bekleidete Frauen auf einem Haufen. Wie eine Art Schaufenster. Auch gab es einige Angestellte, die mir das „Menü“ ihres Lokals unter die Nase hielten. Da gab es einmal Pussy Ping Pong. Ich will (nicht) wissen was das ist.

Bangkok is known for its party scene. So well known that there are movies about it. As a non-party person, I couldn't really care less, but I still wanted to explore Si Lom (where many clubs are located) as well as the region around Nana to gain some insight. I saw many prostitutes. I saw many stalls selling sex toys on the side of the road. I saw many old white men with young Thai women.

Bangkok really has something to offer for everyone; even for the super rich. The Central Embassy luxury shopping center houses stores from Louis Vuitton, Hermes, Ralph Lauren and many more. I have rarely felt more out of place than I did there. I was almost appalled by the fact that people would spend so much money on luxury goods. I could even appreciate Si Lom more, as there was a pleasant atmosphere there despite the explicit trades. I was able to catch a few glimpses inside a couple of strip clubs and saw a lot of very scantily clad women. Kind of like an advertisement for the club. There were also some employees who held the "menu" of their locale under my nose. One read Pussy Ping Pong. I do (not) want to know what that is.
