Some more Tokyo

Heute habe ich Tokyo von oben anschauen können - von der Aussichtsplattform des Metropolitan Government Buildings. Dort konnte ich außerdem für 5 Minuten auf dem “Tocho Omoide Piano” spielen, welches während der Öffnungszeiten der Aussichtsplattform für die Öffentlichkeit zugänglich ist. Ich habe mich besonders gefreut, als eine jüngere Japanerin nach mir die Filmmusik "Sparkle" des Anime-Films "Your name" spielte. Danach habe ich meinen bisherigen Lieblingsort Tokyos entdeckt: Shinjuku Gyoen Park. Diese riesige Grünanlage hat mehrere, verschiedene Gärten, welche man inmitten des Zentrums einfach nicht erwartet hätte. Am meisten hat mich der traditionelle japanische Garten mit insgesamt zwei Teehäusern beeindruckt. Da der Park nicht allzu sehr von Touristen überlaufen war, habe ich dort gut entspannen können. In einem der Teehäuser habe ich meine erste "echte", also traditionell japanisch zubereitete Schale Matcha genossen. Am Nachmittag habe ich mir noch den über eine Mauer vom Rest der Stadt abgegrenzten Universitätscsmpus und den Akihabara-Stadtteil angeschaut, wo es unzählige Manga- und Anime-Läden gibt.

Nach meiner 2-tägigen Wanderung auf den Mt. Fuji habe ich meine letzte Nacht in Tokyo in einem typischen Kapsel-Hotel verbracht. Kapselhotels wurden hier in Japan vor allem deswegen errichtet, um trotz Platzmangel relativ preiswerte Unterkünfte anzubieten. Wie es der Name schon verrät, schläft man in kleinen "Kapseln", die man mit einem Vorhang verschließen kann. Meine Kapsel war gar nicht so klein wie erwartet, und ein Radio hatte ich sogar auch mit integriert.

Today I looked at Tokyo from above - from the observation deck of the Metropolitan Government Building. There I could play on the "Tocho Omoide Piano", which is open to the public during the opening hours of the observation deck. I was also very happy when a younger Japanese girl played the soundtrack "Sparkle" of the anime movie "Your name" shortly after me. During lunchtime, I discovered my favorite place in Tokyo so far: Shinjuku Gyoen Park. This huge green area has several, different gardens which you wouldn't expect in the middle of the city center. I was mostly impressed by the traditional Japanese garden with two tea houses. Since the park was not too crowded by tourists, I could relax there well. In one of the teahouses I enjoyed my first "real" bowl of Matcha prepared in the traditional Japanese way. In the afternoon, I visited the university campus which is separated from the rest of the city by a wall, and the Akihabara district where you can find many manga and anime stores.

After my 2-day hike to Mt Fuji, I spent my last night in Tokyo in a typical capsule hotel. Capsule hotels were built here in Japan primarily to offer less expensive accommodations despite the lack of space. As the name suggests you sleep in small "capsules" that you can close with a curtain. My capsule was not as small as expected and even integrated a radio.Leia mais
