Skagway

Skagway is an interesting place. First off you descend over 1000 meters to the ocean. So you go from snow covered mountains where spring is just beginning to sea level and a lush summer experience.
The streets are meant to be old western store fronts with boardwalk sidewalks. There must be 40 jewelry stores in 4 square blocks (seriously a lot of jewelry stores). We couldn’t figure out why so many, then we saw the cruise ships, 4 of them. We were told they come everyday and dump 12,000-16,000 people into the town. 14,000 new shoppers everyday.
