Free day to enjoy Jewel Paradise Cove. Formally a Hedonism property, this small resort has really grown on me. The standard room bathrooms have been redone, the rest of the room is pretty dated. Block 1,2,3 and 4 are in a square that face the lagoon pool and swim up bar. With no view except for the pool, I could be anywhere in the world.
Book anything with an oceanfront and it will be a different experience. Oceanfront rooms also come with upgraded amenities including alcohol in the mini fridge, no charge room service and some with butlers.
There are 2 great little beaches, one that you can snorkel from, the other in a protected cove with tons of water sport options.
There is a small buffet, and 4 alacarte restaurants plus a daytime pizza place and jerk hut.
3 pools all with swimup bars.
They have an excellent beach bbq night, and a dining under the stars night. As well as a great little spa, and an excellent snorkeling excursion right from their pier .
Guests are having a great time, and the service is very good.
Over all this is a good choice for folks on a budget who want a casual adult only property.

Formally a Sandals, this adult onlyJewel offer 7 room categories including the Premier guest room in the Sapphire building, Lanai guest rooms in the 2 storey Emerald buildings, Diamond Ocean View Concierge and 1 Bedroom Oceanview Butler Suites.
This property has some beautiful wedding venues around the property, as well as a great gym and spa.
2 large pools with swim up bars, water sports center, 9 hole pitch and putt as well as free green fees to Runaway Bay Golf Club.
All Jewels have the same dining options.
Nice stretch of beach, and beautiful mountain views.

Jewel Runaway Bay

Jewel Runway Bay is a family resort that has a large waterpark with waterslides, and a lazy river. All of the kids (and adults) I saw were having a lot of fun!
There are 7 room categories starting with the lead in Premier Guest room, Plunge Pool Jr. Suite with Concierge, 1 bedroom with Butler service and the top Plunge Pool Oceanfront 1bedroom Butler suite.
8 restaurants with kid friendly options and a variety of special event dining.
This property also has the added bonus of Red Ruby Ranch where they offer hay and carriage rides, laser tag, archery and more.
All Jewel properties in this area have access to the Dunns River Golf club.
The beach area is huge, but was too rough for swimming on the day we spent there. I found it hard to find a quiet place, so not a property I'd recommend for folks looking for a peaceful getaway, but families with kids and teens will love it.
Note, there is only 1 air conditioned restaurant.

This was my first trip to Jamaica other than the times i just stopped here as a cruise port. As a cruise stop, it was not my favorite, as the folks at the port are pretty aggressive about getting your business.

Away from the ports was a huge difference, but many people have asked if I felt safe. There was a military presence at the boarder of each parish that did random stop checks, but never on tourist vehicles.
The locals I spoke with felt safer now that there was a crack down on gang activity, and I must admit I did too.
On the resort we used the buddy system so you didn't walk alone at night. So I did feel safe, and our group had no incidents to report. Like travelling anywhere, common sense is the key.

Sunwing and their ground handlers Nexus have a big presence at the Jamaica hotels, and are there to make sure our clients have a seamless experience. Also remember to let your clients know to use www.sunwingcares.ca if they are having an issue while in destination.
Emails go straight to the Nexus office in Montego bay, and are given top priority.

Tip - book Club MoBay airport lounge for your clients for their return trip - they will thank you, and it's commissionable with Sunwing.

Jamaica is a beautiful country, and well worth the visit. Beautiful beaches and great food (still craving jerk chicken!) make it a great choice for vacationers looking for something beyond Mexico.Læs mere
